Stone Coated Steel

Stone Coated Steel

If you want the benefits that come with owning a metal roof but prefer the look of a more traditional roof, stone coated steel is a great option!  As a product that has been used for more than half a century in a variety of climates, it has stood the test of time.

Virtually all stone coated steel roofing has a base of 26 gauge galvalume steel, which is then coated with layers of acrylic and stone granules resulting in an alternative finish to painted metals. It comes in a variety of colors and profiles that can fit a wide range of architectural styles, and it can be installed on roofs with pitches of 3:12 or greater.

A stone coated steel roof in Arizona that looks like roofing tiles.

We have stone-coated steel profiles that look like shingles, shakes, Spanish tiles, Mediterranean tiles, or even flat tiles.  However, unlike real tile, stone-coated steel is lightweight, won’t require you to replace the underlayment every 15-20 years, and won’t chip, crack, or break! It won’t burn like cedar shakes, and it won’t blow off the way asphalt shingles do.  Essentially, you can have all the great benefits people LOVE about metal roofs without all the headaches that come with those traditional styles! We have also had HOAs approve the use of certain profiles to match existing roofs, thereby allowing the residents to upgrade their roofs!

Some styles are installed directly to the roof deck, while others are installed on battens which provide extra airspace and even more energy efficiency.
